GENERAL QUESTIONS

  • What is a custom coiled cable? 
    • A custom coiled cable is just like any normal cable and mainly for aesthetics purposes only. It consists of paracord and techflex/mdpc-x as sleevings for the stock cable. Enthusiasts find the detachable connectors to be helpful especially if you have multiple keyboards/setup. With the rise of custom mechanical keyboards, these cables are surely fun way to upgrade the look of your setup.
  • Why are they more expensive than normal cables?
    • These are 100% handcrafted, customized cables made with high quality materials. 
  • What is a Groupbuy?
    • A Groupbuy or GB is a collective pre-order of a product with either limited time or quantity. 
    • Manufacturing or production of a groupbuy product will take place after all the orders are collected. This helps the maker to plan accordingly to the # of orders, thus making the cost much lower compared to a sole customized cable/product.
  • What is Cerakote?
    • Cerakote is a specialized coating which is mostly used by gun enthusiasts. It has high durability and abrasion resistance compared to other coatings. It improves the strength and durability of a coated material over time and is now widely used by mechanical keyboard enthusiasts.

CABLE FACTS

  • I am new to the hobby, what are the terms that I must know before I purchase?
    • Coil / Straight Cable Customizer - this option lets you fully design your own cable depending on your desired colors and setup needs.
    • Modify Previous Design - found a good design from our social media or want to change a bit of that design? This option is for you and will let you modify a previous design from our gallery/catalogue. You can modify - Device, Host and Detachable connectors, coil length, orientation/direction and heatshrink colors.
    • Device Connector - the connector needed by the keyboard or device. Most common are type C, mini B and micro USB. Here is a guide on type of connectors.
    • Host Connector - the connector needed by the PC, laptop or hub.
    • Detachable Connector - the connector in between the device and host side. Available in screw or push-pull type.
    • Coil Length - the length of the first coil to the last coil
    • Host Side Length - length of detachable connector to the host. For Coil on Host Side orientation, it's the length from end of coil to the host.
    • Coil on Host Side - it's an orientation in which the coil comes after the detachable connector.
    • Coil Outer Diameter - thickness of the coil.
    • Coil Orientation - the relative position of the "coil ends" to the coil itself or the type of layout of the coil.
    • Coil Direction - the position in which the cable will be placed from the keyboard. Most applicable to right angled orientations.
  • What is extra coil, extra device side and extra host side?
    • Extra Coil consists of a device connector (type c, mini B etc), the coil, and a female detachable connector (half of GX16, YC8, Femo etc). It's NOT AN EXTRA for "Coil on Host Side" orientation.
    • Extra Device Side consists of device connector, straight cable (4 to 6 inches) and a female detachable connector.
    • Extra Host Side consists of male detachable connector, straight cable (0.5 to 1.4 meters) and host connector (USB Type A, Type C).
  • What is the maximum allowable length of cable I can buy?
    • It is advisable to keep the total length of a cable less than 3 meters. But there are power hungry keyboards (Drop Alt + Ctrl, some HHKB, Ducky One 2 Mini, Input Club's K-type and Cyberboard) that needs a shorter cable (2.1 meters or less). Let us know if you are using these keyboards.
    • Total length is the length of a cable in a straight manner. A full set standard coiled cable consists of a 6 inches coil, detachable connector and a straight 1.2m host side cable. A 6-inch coil (length of first coil to last coil) is about 1.6 meters when straightened.
    • Can I use custom cables for Apple/Mac products?
      • There is a possiblity that our cables will not work with some models of Apple products especially the new ones that uses different kinds of third-party dongles, hubs, splitters, etc. Please use Apple supported products to avoid issues on your devices.
    • I am not sure what is the outcome of the colors I've chosen, can I see a sample?
      • Yes, there is an option in the order page to get samples (except for Modify Previous Design). Samples will be given to confirmed and paid orders only. No more changes for colors/sleevings that you have agreed upon unless the cable production hasn't started. You can also browse our Instagram or Facebook page to check previous designs to give you an idea of some color combinations.
    • Are G Cables compatible with other makers of custom cables? 
      • Coiled, extras and host side cables are compatible with G Cables ONLY. Do not try to mix and match (G Cables coil + Other maker host cable) as you may enounter issues and may damage your keyboard. We are not liable to such kind of damage.
      • Can I modify the cable for Groupbuy items?
        • Groupbuy items have limited custom options compared to a fully custom build. 
        • Sleevings and heatshrinks are fixed and cannot be changed in a Groupbuy item.
      • Can I use the cable for charging my phone or other devices?
        • Technically, yes. But these are not designed for the current charging specs of phones such as fast charging or power delivery 2.0). We are using USB 2.0 specs so charging will be slow.
        • Other devices compatible we tested are game controllers (Xbox, Logitech G Pro)

      ORDERS / SHIPPING

      • Do you have warranty or accept refunds/returns?
        • Our cables come with a warranty of 6 months after items are delivered. Warranty coverage is only applicable to cables that stopped working within this time period; if the cable/s were properly used; and showed no signs of modifications, opening the connectors, or the like. There are some newbies (or even regular ones) that use the cables improperly like twisting the GX16 causing some short circuit and disconnection.
        • Returns/refunds or replacement in case of physical defect are accepted within 7 days after the items are delivered. Do send us a message and proof (photo/video) of the defect or if the item is not working. You can reach us here in the website (Contact Us), Instagram, Facebook, or Discord Server).
        • Refund will be processed once we receive and inspect them. Note that returned items should be in a good condition to be approved for a return. A partial refund will be determined if the item was found to be in a bad condition.
        • Returns/exchanges for Keycaps Tray (GMK Alternative Tray) is not applicable if the defect is minor scratch or blurred area that occured during transit. Proper QC and packaging will be done to avoid these to happen.
      • Can I still change/cancel my order for cables after I placed an order?
        • Yes, as long as it's within 24 hours after you ordered. Feel free to contact us. Note that Shopify transaction fees are not refundable and will be deducted from your refund value.
      • After I received the cable, can I still send it back if I want to change a part of it?
        • Yes, but you need to pay for the full amount of the part you want to replace + labor fee. Contact us first before you return the cable.
        • How long is the production time?
          • It depends on the number of pending orders. It ranges from 2-7 weeks. If orders are piling up, we may need to close the order page to manage the orders.
          • Groupbuy items lead time are bound by their respective terms and conditions.
          • How long is the delivery time?
            • Philippines / Local orders - 3 to 7 days
            • International orders - 2 to 21 days
            • Please take note that estimated number of days (for international) is counted after the item has been picked up in Singapore. We ship bulk of orders from Philippines to Singapore first, then to be distributed from there.
            • Due to current covid situation worldwide, there may be minor delays as it is unpredictable during these pandemic times.
          • Can I order an in-stock / made-to-order item together with a groupbuy item?
            • Technically yes, but will ship them when all items are available. So I suggest to separate groupbuy orders because they have a different timeline.
          • Can I transfer my groupbuy slot to someone?
            • Transferring is not allowed. We will ship them to the customer who purchased the item.
          • Can I cancel a groupbuy/pre-order item that I purchased?
            • Cancellation for ongoing Groupbuy/Pre-order (Limited) items is allowed. Please take note that Shopify transaction fees are not refundable and will be deducted from your refund value. 
            • Cancellation is not allowed if the groupbuy/pre-order period ended already.
            • Cancellation for products under Pre-order (Not Limited) or made to order like the Libra Mini kit & 3x5 Macropad (and accessories), etc. is not allowed.
          • Why my credit card failed or declined?
            • Invalid card detailsKindly ensure that the details provided for the card are accurate.
            • Bank declines - Unfortunately, issuing banks have their own criteria for their acceptance of online payments which are also known to affect other payment providers. It is encouraged that your customers call their respective banks to allow the transactions to push through.
            • Failure to authenticate - For 3D secure authenticated cards, it may be required for your customers to input an OTP sent to them via SMS by their respective banks. Failure to do so will not allow the transaction to be authorized thus failing the payment.
